Great site Jason. The information you have provided on making duck calls is terrific. I have used your techniques to turn several calls, and have found that there is definatly more to making a duck call than turning a pretty shape. I'd be very interested in seeing some more detailed information or talk with you one on one about shaping the stopper and tuning the call.

Great site Jason! I have made my living bluing guns for just over 25 years. For the past 5 or 6 years I have been making Native American wood flutes. I began thinking of other uses for my lathe and remembered a fellow I used to work with made parts for a call maker and collector. I have been talking with him about learning to make calls. In searching the net for information I found your super web site. Thanks for your willingness to share information about your craft. As a flutemaker I am always willing to share ideas as well and have no "trade secrets". Thanks for a very interesting and informative site. Oh, great pictures of your calls, beautiful work!

While bored at work today, I started looking on E Bay hoping to find a Stone Duck Call for sale. I ended up at your site. Great Site. My grandfather was Claude Stone of Hornersville, MO, I would like to locate some of his hand made calls to pass on to my son and nephews. It is a tough search though. Jason, I am a woodturner who was recently asked to make a duck call. One fellow I know had one I could see for an example. The first one I made doesn't 'quack'. Now thanks to your plans, I should be able to make it work. Thanks for the neat site. You needn't worry that everyone will make their own and then you won't be able to sell them. I think it will be the opposite. Lathe turning looks easy but I'm sure you understand that. Thanks again for the information.

Im a custom call collector. Im interested in your calls.I would like to know if you do any one of a kind work or if you stick strickly to the models on your site. I have several calls that are signed one of a kind calls. I like to have these calls for display- then generally buy a second to use in the field. I realize that there are many call makers that dont like to do that, Ive been doing this for a while now and have ran into problems several times. If this is something that would interest you and if you have a catalog or brochure I owuld like to see it. thank you

Jason,Your Website is put together very well, great pics and sounds and just a fantastic tutorial. I will have to try my hand at some duck calls. I liked to see the "McGyver" style of the wooden mandrel. It's great to see there are some folks who can still do things without all the high dollar fancy jigs. Keep up the good work. Very nice site, chocked full of useful information. Beautiful calls, nice sound bytes, too. All well done.My bride (for the past 14 years) hails from Pelahatchie - I'm sure you know the place. When I was 20 I successfully fought off the urge to buy a Harley. When I was 30 I successfully fought off the urge to buy a trap gun.I'm forty now and have carved a few mallard decoys. Now, I'm wresting with whether to augment my poor woodshop with a lathe and radial arm saw and try to makea duck call. Maybe if I turn several bowls for the old lady, I can trade them off to her for "permission" to indulge!I appreciate your openness about the craft, Jason.Best of look, and look for some messages in your forum from Virgils Daddy.Seeya,John

Jason, Thanks for sending the calls for Glenn and I. I'm still trying to get that part down. We just got back to work today after 6 days off,(we hunted every day) and I thought I would drop you a line. We got about 20 ducks while we were off including my first double. My son Kacey went with me one day and I think he blows the call better than me, but he seemed to have a good time, he helped me knock down a hen mallard. Tell your Dad that I tried to hunt Fountain Grove but drew too big of a number to get a spot. Probably try again when it gets cold. Thanks again,Brian.

Jason,I really have enjoyed the duck call that I purchased from you. I took the call teal hunting this year. What! A Mallard Call for Teal hunting?? Yes, in Louisiana we have many Mottled ducks which quack just like Mallards that hang around here all year. Teal hear the quacks and gives them confidence that everything is alright. You should have seen those teal turn around on their tails to get in the decoys. It worked flawlessly, from the chuckle to highball. Thanks againSincerely,Chris Bowers
